Generosity of the Body

Practice of Outer Generosity of the Body: Give away stuff (items, food, resources, money, time, and energy)

Practice of Inner Generosity of the Body: Give yourself what you need. Nourish yourself through self-care.

Practice of Secret Generosity of the Body: Do physical/energetic practices like yoga, mindful movements, qigong (or simply walking meditation) for the benefit of all beings.


Generosity of Speech

Practice of Outer Generosity of Speech: Say kind words to others. Stop saying unkind words to others.

Practice of Inner Generosity of Speech: Say kind words to oneself. Stop saying unkind words to oneself. (Wholesome self-talk)

Practice of Secret Generosity of Speech: "Monlam" (wish path), speak aspirational wishes such as "May you be happy" found in metta practices, chanting, dedications, reciting sutras and mantras.


Generosity of the Mind

Practice of Outer Generosity of the Mind: See the wholesome qualities in others. See all beings as Buddhas.

Practice of Inner Generosity of the Mind: See the wholesome qualities in oneself. Having self confidence in one's own Buddhanature without pride. See oneself as a Buddha.

Practice of Secret Generosity of the Mind: Meditating (calming the mind, relaxing, and looking deeply into the nature of mind & reality) for the benefit of all beings.
