Instructions for Meditation on Ultimate Bodhichitta
Guru Yoga:
I pray for your blessing, my guru, great and completely worthy spiritual friend.
I pray that you will cause love, compassion and bodhicitta to arise in my mind.
Count without disturbance twenty one breaths over and over again.
Train yourself to have some feeling for looking at the world as a dream.
Investigate Mind’s nature (origin, location, and cessation)
When thoughts about emptiness arise, let them self liberate through looking right at them. Then rest without any reference point.
Placing Meditation: Let go and rest in the clarity of the natural state.
Seven-branch Prayer:
Whatever little wholesome energies I have collected
By prostrating, making offering, confession, rejoicing,
Requesting to give teaching, and requesting not to pass away
I dedicate all of them to attain full awakening.
I seek refuge in the Three Jewels.
I confess all misdeeds individually.
I rejoice in the virtues of all beings.
I take to heart the Buddha’s enlightenment.
Having developed the intention for highest enlightenment
I shall invite all sentient beings as my guests
And I shall engage in the delightful practices of bodhisattvas.
Daily Life:
Continually foster the feeling of knowing that all appearances, yourself, others, animate or inanimate, appear though they seem to be nothing.
